For cafes, restaurants and takeaways

Websites for cafes, restaurants and takeaways

People decide where to eat on their phone, often minutes before they go. They want your menu, your hours and how to find you, fast. We build you a site that gives them all three in 24 hours, then keep it up to date for £99 a month.

What customers look for

What hungry people look for

Someone looking at a cafe or restaurant website usually wants a few quick answers, then they're on their way to you, or to somewhere else.

The menu

A real menu with prices, as text that loads fast on a phone, not a blurry photo of the printed one.

Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options marked clearly, and how to get full allergen information.

What it's like

Dog friendly, child friendly, outdoor seating, step-free access: the small details that decide a visit.

Sample site

A sample cafe site

The shape of the home page we'd build you. The cafe here is made up.

  • Buttons for what people come to do: see the menu and book a table.
  • A headline that says what you serve and where.
  • Your food hygiene rating and an allergen note in the trust line, if you want them there.
  • Breakfast, lunch and cakes up front, each opening its menu section.
  • Opening hours for every day, marked up so search engines can read them.
The details

The details that matter for cafes and restaurants

The practical bits that turn a look into a visit. We only show what you tell us is true.

Allergen information

Food businesses must give customers information about the 14 major allergens in what they serve. If you tell people in person, the rules say you need a clear written notice explaining how to ask, and your site can say the same.

Your food hygiene rating

Proud of your rating? Say so. In Wales and Northern Ireland you must display it at your premises; in England it's voluntary, and showing it online is up to you.

Menus you change in seconds

Prices, specials and seasonal dishes change often. Type the change, check the preview, approve it.

Booking and delivery links

Upkept doesn't take orders or bookings itself, so your buttons go to the booking or delivery services you already use, or to your phone.

Directions without a heavy map

Your address with a link that opens the route in a maps app, so the page stays fast on a phone.

Built for search

Your site is marked up for search engines with what you do, your phone number, your hours and where you are.

Change it by chat

Things cafe owners ask their site to do

No editor and no waiting for a web designer. Type what you want, see a preview of exactly what will change, and tap approve. Nothing goes live until you say so, and any change can be undone.

Beyond the website

Getting more people through the door

A few habits that make a cafe or restaurant website pull its weight.

  • Keep your Google Business Profile hours and your website hours the same.
  • Put the menu on the site as text, so people and search engines can read it.
  • Link your booking or delivery service from every page.
  • Show real reviews, with your customers' permission.
  • Update the specials often: it gives people a reason to look again.

FAQ

Cafes and restaurants ask us

Can customers order food through the website?

Upkept doesn't take orders or payments. If you use a delivery or click-and-collect service, your Order buttons can go straight to it; if you take orders by phone, the button rings you.

Can I update the menu myself?

Yes, by chat. Type or paste the changes, see a preview and approve it. Prices, specials and whole new menus all work the same way.

Can people book a table?

Your Book a table button can go to the booking service you use, or to your phone. Upkept doesn't run a booking system itself.

Do I have to put allergen information on my website?

Food businesses must give allergen information for the 14 major allergens, and how depends on how you sell. If customers order online or by phone, it must be available before they complete the order and again on delivery. For eat-in and counter service, you can tell people in person, with a written notice saying how to ask. Read the Food Standards Agency's guidance.

Do you build websites for takeaways?

Yes. A takeaway site needs the menu, opening hours, your delivery area and a fast way to order, which links to the delivery app you use or rings you.

How much does a website for a cafe cost?

Upkept is £99 a month with no setup fee, on a 12-month initial plan, then month to month. Our cost guide compares that with DIY builders and one-off builds. Read the website cost guide.
